SURFACE QUALITY IN FOCUS

For certain components used in valves, the quality of the surface finish is most important and, at the same time, tolerances are very tight. The process of choice is called “lapping”.

Lapping is a manufacturing process involving cutting to reduce surface roughness. Unlike during a grinding process, the chippings are loose and distributed in a liquid. In the case of valve sealing seats, which are used together with ceramic balls in our hydraulic valves, this leads to 100% leak-tightness.

Both of our fully automatic lapping machines are custom-made, having been specially manufactured for us according to our specifications.
